Nissan has released the first images of its new B-segment concept car, the Invitation. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor show next month, the car previews a new model that will sit between the Micra and Juke as the company returns to the traditional hatchback market.
The Invitation's DRG features a wide grille with a chrome accent that extends into the lamps, reminiscent of the Quest MPV. In profile its four-light DLO visually stretches the car's upper body as it extends to the centerline of each axle. Its lower body features large wheelarch flats which increase in radius and spill onto the door surface, where they interact with a character line that Nissan refers to as the ‘Squash Line', last seen on its Pivo 3 concept.
Inside, the extensive glasshouse is combined with white seat fabric giving a heightened feeling of space. The IP features multiple detail lines that run into the door cards and frame the central, digital stack that houses infotainment and climate controls. A circular pattern motif is repeated through the IP, from the pronounced dials to the large HVAC control.

2012 Nissan Leaf Review. Certain cars can’t accurately be judged on a choreographed press junket. Take a minivan for instance. To properly evaluate such a vehicle requires a road trip with a spouse and kids. Likewise, an electric car must be lived with in order to be judged. That said, I recently borrowed a Nissan Leaf for three days and set out to use it just as I would with any conventional internal combustion engine vehicle. That may sound simple enough for an urbanite, those for whom six miles is considered a commute, but for me it’s an 80 mile round trip.
And while Nissan may claim 100 miles as an EPA-rated ranged, they’ll also admit that the real-world distance is closer to 70 – just shy of the range I’d need to travel back and forth from work. LEAF DOESN’T MEET “JUST IN CASE” CRITERIA
Understandably, almost no one in my situation would seriously look at purchasing an electric car with such a limited range. But being the curious sort, I wanted to know: How far has the technology come and could an electric car work for someone like me?
After all, most Americans buy cars for the just in case factor. As in, it has all-wheel drive just in case it snows, or it as a third row just in case they need to drive their kids and their kids’ friends to the mall. In short, these features are no different than a 400-hp V8 in a Mustang. It may only be used once a week, or even less, but that’s the reason they bought the car.For the American car buyer, a 300-mile range and the ability to double it with a quick stop at a gas station has become the norm, and in order to achieve mainstream acceptance, EVs need to do the same.
An official product launch with such a car would have carefully planned routes with chase cars should I get stranded and a long list of phone numbers of PR folks to assist me should I get lost. 2013 Nissan Pathfinder engine confirmed, big deal debuting in Big Apple.

There is a lot to like about the Pathfinder Concept Nissan unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The thinly disguised showcar foregoes the body-on-frame construction of the current Pathfinder for a weight savings of about 500 pounds. Nissan also promises fuel economy improvement of about 25 percent with the production model, which would be no small feat.
Motor Trend reports that Nissan has confirmed that the 2013 Pathfinder will feature a 3.5-liter V6. That makes sense considering the Pathfinder's all-new sibling, the Infiniti JX35, will also feature the same V6. Nissan has yet to divulge any details about the Pathfinder mill, but we do know that the JX35 will boast 265 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. Nissan has also apparently told MT that it has big plans for April's New York Auto Show. Nissan will reportedly unveil a completely vehicle at the show that has never been seen by outsiders. Us? We're not sure, but our best guess is it'll be the 2013 Altima.

Just days after news broke that Nissan was working on a more powerful GT-R for the 2013 model year, a mysterious prototype sporting new performance upgrades has been spotted running up some quick laps at the Nurburgring.
A host of new aero accessories, including an aggressive front lip spoiler, side skirts, bootlid spoiler and revised rear wing, can all clearly be seen.
What’s not clear is whether this is a regular model in testing or a new high-performance SpecR or track-only special.
The long-rumored SpecR is expected to replace the slow selling--and highly overpriced--SpecV and weigh in around 130 pounds less than the regular GT-R.
In addition to a lighter body, the prototype seen here is expected to be running more power than the 523 horsepower 2012 model, perhaps as much as 570 horsepower.
The power increase will surely reduce the GT-R's already mental acceleration times even further, but that's not all that's in the bag--expect a series of updates to the suspension and transmission programming to reflect the additional output emanating from under the hood.

Can a Nissan Leaf beat a Tesla Roadster Sport? At the inaugural running of the Oresund Rally, which features nothing but electric cars that took place in Denmark and Sweden from September 10 to 11, it can.
At the starting line was the Leaf, the Roadster, four Citroen C-Zeros, two Peugeot iOns and a couple of converted electric rides. When the dust settled, it was the Nissan Leaf that captured the Oresund Rally title.
If you just went to go look up the top speeds of the participating vehicles and were wondering how this could happen, there's one importatnt point to make: the Oresund Rally is not an ultimate speed type of event. Rather, it's a regularity rally, meaning that the overall objective is to arrive at each destination on time. There are checkpoints along the rally's route and even a tenth of a second too slow or fast results in a penalty. The team with the least penalty points wins the event.
The Leaf, with 182 penalty points, trounced the competition with the next closest competitor scoring 451 points. Meanwhile, the Tesla Roadster Sport was penalized to the tune of 6,100 points. And in last place, a converted Fiat 500 racked up 8,000 points. These types of timed events are a consistent driver's dream and a lead-footer's nightmare. It's all the more difficult to hold back from gunning a Roadster whenever you have the chance, so we can understand if the driver racked up 6,000 points in exchange for some pleasure.

In many respects, the Nissan Titan is a good truck, but its competitors outshine it at almost every turn.

Sticker prices for the
Nissan Altima have risen slightly for the 2012 model year, with increases ranging from $520 to $700 depending on trim level. The car is almost completely unchanged from the 2011 model year. As we reported earlier, the Altima hybrid has been discontinued for this model year, but may return with a new drivetrain in the next few years.
All models of the Nissan Altima Coupe cost $670 more this year than in 2011. The only change is that Dark Slate paint replaces the prior Metallic Slate color. Altima Coupe S models, with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine, are $24,360 with a six-speed manual transmission or $24,860 with a continuously variable transmission. The Altima Coupe SR packs a 3.5-liter V-6, and stickers for $29,190 with a CVT or $31,520 with a six-speed manual.
For the Altima sedan, Bluetooth connectivity becomes standard on the SR trim. The base Altima sedan 2.5 starts at $21,170, while the upgraded 2.5 S sedan costs $23,330, increases of $520 over equivalent 2011 models. Both come with the aforementioned 2.5-liter inline-four and a continuously variable transmission. Meanwhile the V-6-powered sedan SR sees a $700 price increase, to $26,190.
The 2012 Nissan Altima is at dealerships now. All prices include a $760 destination charge.

Nissan says it achieved a 9.7 percent U.S. market share in March, the highest single month in company history. Complementing March's heady number is an overall market share of 9.3 percent for Nissan in the first quarter of 2011. That represents a 0.3 percent gain in market share, building on 2010's 0.4 percent gain.
March also saw the Nissan Altima take the title of best-selling sedan in America, another company first. The Altima contributed 32,289 units to Nissan's 121,141-car total, which is nearly a 27 percent bump over last year's March figures. It isn't immediately clear what incentives Nissan had on the car during the month of March to aid sales, but presently, the Japanese automaker is offering zero-percent financing for up to 60 months or 1.9 percent APR financing for up to 72 months, or $1,250 cash back.
Had enough numbers? Too bad, Nissan isn't quite done. Monthly sales were up 28.4 percent for the division, another record, and Infiniti saw a 13.5 percent sales hike in March. With numbers this big, Nissan is looking at a banner year.

The current objet-drool is sitting in the driveway. Its wide silver flanks sit astride four shiny chrome exhausts and meet mother earth on 20-inch gloss black rims. It’s the Nissan GT-R. Take a Nissan Sentra (or similar four door family car of your preference), amputate two rear doors with a sawzall, pack the whimpering invalid that results off to the gym with a canister of Bulk-Me-Up and instructions to "get ripped." The result emerges with bulges everywhere. Stretched and sliced, the passenger cabin is flattened into the high waist. This is a vehicle which buys attitude in 55 gallon drums from Costco. Weekly. It doesn’t demand respect. It grabs you by the throat, dangles you six inches off the ground and takes it.
The fact that it rests in my driveway is confusing. Some misguided soul decided it would be a good idea to give this spawn of video games and alien experiments to someone for a day. I must have been dozing because they looked for the most un-threatening individual in the room and picked me. Sad, really.
Silver bodywork, aforementioned gloss custom wheels, massive quad exhausts, deeply tinted windows and black leather interior. The only relief from the monochrome palette is the GT-R badge in lurid red. Puttering around downtown, the car is a dream. So the dash looks like it was designed by a 12-year old arcade addict (I actually learned some of the controls from Gran Turismo 5). So it has ridiculously tiny back seats. So the hood disappears into the distance and it has lousy rear vision.
Driving it is easy. Start her up, engage gear and burble off through your day. It would be easily possible to drive this monster at 30 mph all day long. However, if you feel the need to donate regularly to the local police retirement fund, plant that right foot. The car crouches down, gathers itself for a microsecond or two inside the vast electronic brain, and launches you to infinity and beyond. Really. And all this for only $90,000 or so.

The top model, with Tekna trim and a 1.6-litre, 190bhp turbocharged engine, can be had with four-wheel drive and the continuously variable automatic transmission that goes with it (and a £19,995 price tag), but most people will buy front-wheel drive Jukes (from £12,795) with that turbo engine, a 117bhp non-turbo 1.6, or a 110bhp, 1.5-litre turbodiesel.
Image by Dave Pinter via FlickrThe Juke's steering is quick and accurate, if slightly viscous-feeling, and it feels engagingly quick-witted. Firm suspension is the key to this ability, particularly its anti-roll bars, but it's not so firm as to be annoying over bumps. It's a good compromise.
Then there is the Nissan Dynamic Control, a toy worth having, which is why you need at least the middle Acenta trim level. With this you can select Normal, Eco (with reduced throttle opening to force you to drive more frugally) or Sport (a quicker, sharper accelerator response and heavier steering). With each mode comes a different display on a panel low on the centre console: a power gauge for Sport, a torque gauge for Normal, and an economy gauge for Eco. You can also log your eco-driving success via bar graphs.
And here's a very neat feature. Press the Climate button and not only does the display change to show the temperature selected, but all the mode-selection buttons suddenly change to air-con control buttons. It makes you smile, and helps you overlook the fact that the steering wheel can be adjusted only for height, the rear seats don't slide as you might expect them to, and the interior plastics are all hard. As for which engine to choose, the 190bhp turbo gives the Juke an impressive turn of speed. The six-speed gearbox of the front-wheel, drive-test car proved intermittently unwilling to select first gear, however, and the engine emitted some curious mechanical whines.
This is a contrived car, but the coalescence of disparate genes works. The Juke is good fun to drive and to own, and it certainly gets noticed. Some people recoil in horror at the sight of it, others smile. Nissan don't make many "normal" cars any more. The likeable Juke shows there is no need.

The company just released pricing details on the 2011 Titan and Armada, and it looks like the two heavy-breathing bruisers will carry new badges when they hit dealer lots. Starting next year, the Armada will shed its SE and Titanium designations in favor of SV and SL trims, respectively. Those looking to land themselves in the big Japanese SUV can expect to pay $37,910 for a two-wheel drive in SV garb. Things top out with the $52,890 Armada 4x4 Platinum.

On the truck side of things, XE, SE and LE trims have been scrapped in favor of S, SV and SL designations. Oh what a difference a consonant makes. Pricing for the full-size pickup starts at $26,820 for the short-wheelbase version in two-wheel drive, S trim and goes up from there. Its 5-speed automatic transmission features a tow/haul mode for when hauling heavy cargo. There are two main cab options for the Titan: King and Crew. The first generation Titan saw the King Cab’s bed lengths be offered in either 6’7” or 8’, but the current series of the truck begins at 7’ and goes as high as 8’. The King Cab also features rear-hinged doors that extend out wide to make loading in cargo or passengers easier. The Crew Cab bed length choices are both shorter by a foot in comparison to the King Cab but have four doors and display more room inside than the extended cab version.

There are four separate trim levels for the Nissan Titan. The XE is the base model, the SE is the mid-level option, the PRO-4X is designed to present an “off-road” package, and the LE is the luxury oriented Titan. The Nissan Titan PRO-4X is an aggressive design by the brand. Featuring 18” wheels, off-road tires, Rancho shocks, and skid plates, the PRO-4X is an ambitious alternative to the base XE. only a little bit of tweaking to the 2011 Titan and Frontier. The Titan swaps three of its four trim level names, with XE becoming S, SE becoming SV and LE becoming SL, and any four-wheel drive model will get a "4x4" badge. More substantively, captain's chairs will be fitted as standard on the top-level SL trim. The 317-horsepower, 5.6 liter V8 remains unchanged.

The name swap carries over to the Frontier, however, with the PRO-4X model keeping its name on the Frontier and Titan. The smaller pickup loses the six-speed manual on the long wheelbase SL King Cab and SV Crew Cab, but gains a six-speed manual option for the lowest trim S model and the PRO-4X short wheelbases. The top line SV trim adds a Luxury Package to its option sheet, and with a little mix-n-match you can get LATCH child safety seats.

The 2011 Titan goes on sale in August, the V6 Frontiers hit showrooms in September, the four cylinder Frontiers in October.
